The Rewind Technique

Experiencing trauma, severe phobias, or deep distress can often leave you feeling trapped in the past.

If you are struggling with flashbacks, anxiety, or intrusive thoughts, the Rewind Technique offers a gentle and highly effective way to process these difficult experiences so you can move forward.

What is the Rewind Technique?

The Rewind Technique is an internationally recognised, safe psychological treatment designed specifically for trauma, PTSD, and phobias.

Perhaps the most significant benefit of this approach is that it is a "non-disclosure" therapy. This means you do not have to talk about the sensitive or painful details of your traumatic experience with me. We can work through the trauma without you needing to recount the event aloud, significantly minimising the risk of feeling re-traumatised during our sessions.

How does it work?

While you are in a safe, comfortable state of deep relaxation, I will guide you to visualise the traumatic event or phobia as if you are watching it on a screen—fast-forwarding and rewinding it from a safe, detached distance.

This process helps your brain reclassify the memory. It moves the memory from the emotional, "fight or flight" part of your brain into your logical, long-term memory. The memory itself is not erased, but the intense emotional distress attached to it is removed.

What Can the Rewind Technique Help With?

By safely reprocessing difficult memories, this technique can help you overcome:

PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)

Single or multiple traumatic events

Intrusive thoughts, nightmares, and flashbacks

Severe phobias and intense fears

Lingering anxiety from a disturbing past experience

The Benefits of Rewind Therapy

  • You stay protected: You never have to speak about the specific details of the event unless you choose to.
  • Fast and effective: Many clients experience a significant reduction in their symptoms, or complete relief, in just a few sessions.
  • Lasting peace of mind: It helps stop involuntary recall (like flashbacks or nightmares) while keeping the memory accessible only when you actively choose to think about it.

If you are carrying the weight of a past trauma or phobia and would like to see if the Rewind Technique is right for you, please get in touch to arrange a free initial consultation.
